Department of Chemical Engineering
The Department of Chemical Engineering started in the year 1994 affiliated with University of Mumbai and 20 batches have graduated and are serving in Multinational as well as renowned Indian industries. MGMCET is the only college recognized by the University of Mumbai to impart ME course in Chemical Engineering since 2008.
A Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering at MGMCET is a Post Graduate Degree Program that aims at providing students with sound scientific and technological knowledge in the scope of Chemical Engineering; not only in the professional context, but also in the investigation domain.

The contribution of Chemical Engineers is a part of everyone’s life from dawn to dusk and from birth to death. The Chemical Industry is large and lucrative & globally it employees approximately 10 million people, enables indirectly employment of over 50 million. While the Enterprise is global, its market distribution is dominated by Asia Pacific with 28%. On the production side, the distribution of manufacturing sites has fluctuated noticeably, especially in the recent years and the sharpest increases in number of new plant projects have occurred in Asia Pacific (up 33%), clearly the industry is migrating to regions with the fastest growing markets. It seems unavoidable that the profession must mirror this globalization development.
Hence, there is a need for well educated, well-rounded chemical engineers, who are depicted as “The Successful Chemical Engineer of Tomorrow.” The technological solutions of future generation obviously require the expertise of the chemical engineering profession. Overall, the discipline of Chemical Engineering offers a broad scope of opportunities in Process Design and Engineering, Chemical Plant Erection and Commissioning as well as in Research & Development activities etc.
The Chemical Engineering is mainly applicable in the following Industries:
- Chemical Industries
- Nuclear Industries
- Textile & Paper Industries
- Fertilizer Industries
- Pharmaceutical Industries
- Bioprocess Industries
- Petroleum Industries
- Beverage Industries
- Waste Treatment Industries
- Petro Chemical Industries
- Polymer & Paint Industries
- Oil, Soap and Detergent Industries
Department Vision and Mission
Vision:
